Police interview shooting suspects

  • A 22-year-old Albany man was shot in the leg near a Clark Avenue apartment complex Thursday, police say.

ALBANY — Two Albany men have been jailed in connection with the Thursday shooting of a man on Clark Avenue, police officials said.

Tremain Monson, 23, and Daniel Blakely, 22, have each been charged by police with aggravated assault. They are being held in the Dougherty County Jail awaiting a bond hearing, jail officials said.

Police say that Moses Jerome Lewis, 22, was shot in the leg near the 1700 block of Clark Avenue.

Albany Police Department spokesperson Phyllis Banks said Friday that the wounded Lewis managed to walk to a nearby apartment complex and call police.

He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Banks said his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

While both of the men have been charged, detectives are still working to determine who pulled the trigger.

“They’re trying to determine who actually did the shooting, so they’re holding both of them at this point,” Banks said.
