Wallace Adams Binns, Sr.
SYLVESTER Mr. Wallace Adams Binns, Sr., 80, of Sylvester died Thursday May
15, 2008 at his residence. A celebration of life will be held at 4 P.M.
Saturday May 24, 2008 at Binns home on Spring Flats Rd. The family will
receive friends immediately following the services.

Willie Albert Brown, Jr.
ALBANY Mr. Willie Albert Billy Brown, Jr., 76 of 130 Thornton Dr.,
Albany died May 13, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 A.M. at the New Testament Baptist
Church, Albany. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.
Rev. Samuel Jordon, Pastor will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born May 3, 1932 in Lee Co. He attended Lee Co. Public School
System and was a retired logger. He was a member of New Testament Baptist
Church.
Survivors include, one son, Willie Albert Hatcher of Detroit, MI, and one
sister, Mary Moore (Johnny) of Jamaica, NY, a very devoted niece, Martha
Davenport of Albany and a host of other nieces and nephews.
The remains of Mr. Brown will be in the church Saturday from 10 A.M. until
the funeral hour.

Larry Coleman
DAWSON Rev. Larry Coleman, 56, of 1421 George Jennings Rd., Dawson died on
Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Calhoun Memorial Hospital, Arlington.
A memorial (Wake) Service will be held at 7 P.M. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at
the Chapel of Albrittens Funeral Service, 395 Cedar Hill Ave., Dawson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Saint
Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Leary. Rev. Dr. Joseph Howard, III will
officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson.
Rev. Coleman was a native of Columbus, where he was raised by his
grandmother, Mrs. Rosell Miles. upon marriage to his loving wife, he moved to
Terrell Co. where he joined the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was
ordained as a Deacon and Minister of the Gospel under the leadership of Rev.
H.C. Wilson.
Rev. Coleman was previously employed as an Insurance Agent. He was the
pastor of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Leary and Jackson Grove
Missionary Baptist Church in Parrott.
Rev. Coleman is survived by a devoted wife, Dorothy Alston Coleman of
Dawson; one son, Virgil Powell (Patsy) of Dawson; three daughters, Vallaire
Wilson of Phenix City, AL, Kimberly Coleman of Sandy Springs and Kristinia
Coleman of Dawson; two sisters, Betty Richardson (Rev. Albert) of Columbus and
Jeanette Nuckles of Seale, AL; two aunts, Rosell Sumbry and Johnnie M. Jacobs,
both of Columbus; three uncles, Robert L. Fluellen and Lathen Brooks, both of
Phenix City, AL. and James Fluellen of Akron,OH: four grandchildren, Jutoris
Powell and Austin Powell, both of Albany, Dreyon Clay and Sequoya Powell, both
of Dawson; one great grandson; several sisters and brothers-in-law and many
cousins, nieces, nephews, and close family friends. Rev. Coleman also leaves
behind beloved and devoted congregational members.

Lula Mae Kunney
DAWSON Sis. Lula Mae Kunney, 93, of Rte. 1 Box 1515, Newton died May 11,
2008 at Calhoun Memorial Hospital, Arlington. Funeral services will be
Saturday 1 P.M. at New Salem Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with
interment in Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Elmodel.
Lula Mae Kunney was born to the late John Kunney and Lula Lofton Kunney on
January 31, 1915 in Baker Co. She was the youngest of six siblings.
She was educated in the public schools of Baker Co. She received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Albany State College, Albany.
She was employed with the Baker and Mitchell Co. school systems for over 35
years. During her employment she served as Lunchroom Supervisor, Teacher,
Principal and Adult Literacy Teacher. She was also employed as a Census Worker
for the united States Census Bureau.
Her civic activities included serving as Secretary of the Independent
Fraternal Union.
She received numerous awards in the field of education and was a member of
several professional organizations.
She joined Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Elmodel at an early age.
She was a devoted member and served as Church Secretary for 50+ years until
her illness.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Norris
Kunney, Richard Kunney, Arminder Kunney and Alice E. Harris.
Ms. Kunney leaves to mourn her son John Kunney, Sr. (Mattie) of Reidsville;
brother, Benjamin T. Kunney of Elmodel; grandchildren, Wanda K. Mosley
(Quinton) of Reidsville, John Kunney, Jr. of Alpharetta, Christopher Kunney
(Rossie) of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Jamie Murphy of Ellenwood, Brian and
Jordan Kunney of Atlanta; great great grandchildren , Jaylin and Jaimee Murphy
of Ellenwood and a host of relatives and friends.

Corinne Ross
ALBANY Corinne Ross, 83, of 426 Cedar Ave. died May 11, 2008 at her
residence. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:30 A.M. at Pine Chapel Baptist
Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. James bush will officiate.
Corinne was born August 20, 1924 in Dougherty Co. She was a member of Pine
Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Vanessa Ross, Alpharetta, Dorimell E.
Ross, Trenton, NJ, and Juanita A. Ross, Albany; three sisters, Ella (Wilbert)
Barlow, Trenton, NJ, Doree Simmons, Daytona Beach, FL and Lillie C. Brown,
Albany; eight grandchildren, Shacola A. Bertha, Jessica C. Boyd, Skyler L.
Ross, Sonepia E. Ross, Tominka V. Johnson and Peastease S. Ross; four great
grandchildren, Victoria T. Bryant, Zavion J, Dickinson, Daquan J, Mayer and
Shanay P. Jackson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and

Marvin Thurman, Jr.
ALBANY Mr. Marvin Thurman, Jr., 40, of 216 Sunset Ln., Albany died May 10,
2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Saturday 11 A.M. at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in New Salem Church cemetery. Rev. Edward James Heath
will officiate.
Mr. Thurman was born June 5, 1967 in Houston, TX. He was a graduate of
Harris Co. Public School System in Houston, TX. He worked as civil service on
the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Zenobia Mays Thurman of Albany, his parents,
Delores Willis of Houston, TX and Marvin Thurman, Sr. of Ruston, LA., one
brother, Wayne Williams (Tina) of Ruston, LA., two sisters, Taisha Roberts
(Oscar) of Houston, TX., and Antoinett Thurman of Houston, TX.
The remains of Mr. Thurman will be in the church Saturday 10 A.M. until the
funeral hour.

Alvin Jackson Vann
ALBANY The funeral service of Alvin Jackson Vann, 90, of 4435 Florida
Short Route, Dawson, GA, who died May 14, 2008, at Palmyra Medical Centers,
will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. David
Crowdis will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church
Cemetery, Edison, GA.
A native of Grady Co. GA, Mr. Vann was born to Irvin Byrd Vann and Mabel
Hobby Vann and had resided in Sasser since 1964. He was a World War II Navy
Veteran and a retired farmer. He was also a retired truck driver for Air
Products and was formerly employed with Keenans Auto Parts. Mr. Vann was a
member of and a deacon at Sasser Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by
his brothers and sisters, Irvin B. Vann, Jr., Helen Vann Browning, Carl W.
Vann, Sr., Frances Vann, Harold Vann, son-in-law, Hopson Irvin and a
step-granddaughter, Heather Griffith.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda McCorkle Vann, of Sasser, GA, two sons,
Jack Vann and his wife Darlene of Sasser, GA, Mike Vann and his wife, Leah of
Sasser, GA, a daughter, Pat Irvin of Newton, GA, and Sherman Vann and Eleanor
of Virginia Beach, VA, a sister, Nancy Vann Barronton and her husband, Tom of
Valley Grande, AL, two sisters-in-law, Anita Vann of Columbus, GA and Earline
Vann of Edison, GA, five grandchildren, Vann Irvin and his wife, Debra, Traci
Griffith and her husband, Ralph, Blake Vann, Myles Vann and Taylor Vann, four
great-grandchildren, Matt Roach, Becky Short and her husband Chan, Mandy Irvin
and Jacques Irvin, one great-great-grandchild, Hadley Stegall.
